Internships

Children and Screens: Institute of Digital Media and Child Development is seeking motivated students for Spring 2023 internships. Our organization provides a collaborative environment where students from across the nation bring our mission to life: to advance and support interdisciplinary scientific research on the impact of digital media on child and adolescent health, development, and wellbeing; foster public awareness; promote policy that protects young people; and increase human capital in the field.

Interns have the opportunity to actualize our goal of helping young people lead healthy lives in a digital world by assisting with our programs, including planning and executing our webby-nominated Ask the Experts webinar series, reading and assessing scientific literature, analyzing public policy and legislation, and creating informative, engaging content for our digital platforms. This is in addition to attending weekly staff and intern meetings.

All internships are remote, and candidates should be authorized to work in the United States. Interested candidates should email their resume and cover letter to jobs@childrenandscreens.com

Children and Screens offers internship opportunities in the following areas:

FAQ

  • Will I have to travel into the office? No, Children and Screens is operating remotely for the foreseeable future, and all interns work remotely from their chosen location. Interns should have access to a computer, reliable internet access, and a webcam.

  • Can I change the length of the internship? Each internship requires a minimum of fifteen weeks of participating at least 10 hours a week in order to be considered an intern. Extension beyond this semester-long period may be possible, subject to the availability of funds and satisfaction with work. No stipend will be awarded if the internship is cut short, with the exception of illness. Students are able to volunteer, however, and put in weekly hours based on their availability.

  • Do I need to be certified to work in the U.S. to apply for this internship? Yes. Children and Screens can provide letters for CPT and OPT if necessary for international applicants.
