Interdisciplinary Grants Program

The Institute is currently supporting four exciting interdisciplinary, interinstitutional scientific research grants! Three of these grants were awarded to support exploration into the mental, cognitive, and physical effects of young people’s digital media consumption before, during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. This $250,000 will extend prior digital media research to include the investigation into media use during COVID-19 and its short-term and long-term effects on children and adolescents. The fourth grant, totaling $100,000, was awarded to a team of researchers after our March, 2020 Digital Media and the Developing Brain research retreat to investigate the cognitive and neuroscientific impacts of digital media on growing brains.
